This project involved the complete strip out and renovation of a 400 year old pub, including sand blasting the interior timbers to remove layers of paint which obscured the natural beauty of the existing stone and timber structure.
The existing rear areas were excavated to reduce floor levels and install a new insulated floor slab.
The old thatch was removed and replaced together with rotten roof members and new oak roof members installed. The ground floor involved the addition of a ‘Winter Garden,’ new toilet facilities and a complete new catering kitchen. The existing Horton stone and timber features were carefully restored and a new bar installed.
Lime rendering complemented and highlighted the existing character features and helped disguise some of the modern necessary features including the steelwork over the bar.
New management and staff areas were provided to the first floor along with three high quality ensuite bedrooms.
